This Comedy Central series from Sofia Coppola and Zoe Cassavetes feels light years ahead of everything in its class. It created the mould for stuff like Delusional Downtown Divas (the Lena Dunham sartorial sketch show). I donât really remember when I found it, but Iâll watch it on repeat. Iâm hoping one day theyâll bring it back, but Iâm not holding my breath. I dreamed of being a Gen Xer when I was a teenager and this series is why.

Young Zoe Cassavetes and Sofia Coppolaâs short lived program about a hodgepodge of stuff on the counter of fashion, film, music and basically whatâs âinâ for people around their age at the time. Also groundbreaking as one of the first shows to be made using digital camerasâŠ.so young trailblazers honestly.
Everyone whoâs anyone was in this show (which is amazing since thereâs only like 3-4 episodes ever broadcasted)

The dialogue was written from interviews conducted by the creators with real New Yorkers in the 90's, it's so natural and authentic. Like Freaks and Geeks, such a shame we only ever got one season.

đșThere just isnât another piece of culture I love more than the Lisa Kudrow show The Comeback. It occupies space in my head completely rent free, and has since 2005 when it launched to zero fanfare on HBO. It has since become a cult favorite, had a next-level brilliant second season in 2014, and itâs script has become almost 80-85% of my vocabulary. It was a brilliant take on reality television before reality television was even a THING, and remains insanely relevant to this day. Hard to watch at times, but somehow always on my TV.

đI feel bad promoting a competing entity but câest la vie! I just spoke in French because the woman who runs Passerbuys, ClĂ©mence PolĂšs, is French and is in France right now. ClĂ©mence visits women in their homes, takes pictures, and asks their recommendations on what to read, what to cook, where to eat, and just general insider tips. Here is mine, for the curious. I am extremely nosy and I am regularly asking âwhere did you get that?â I am obsessed with other peopleâs apartments and their drinkware and why they chose rye over bourbon. I think I have read each post all about 2x over, even my boyfriendâs ex-girlfriendâs! On the site, the entries can be sorted by occupation or city/neighborhood; itâs immediately clear that she hasnât just interviewed 12 creative directors and 9 brand ambassadors. My only rule is that you canât visit the site until youâre done reading this newsletter because that would be rude.

đ¶I love gospel music and getting to hear Whitney Houston sing with the Georgia Mass ChoirâŠ.? COME ONNNNNN. I just looked it up and itâs the best-selling gospel album of all time. Makes sense honestly. Separately: It would have been so amazing to see where Whitney would have gone as a producer. She produced Cinderella and the Princess Diaries. Look at this photo of Whitney and Anne Hathaway: The Preacherâs Wife was directed by Penny Marshall, and The Princess Diaries was directed by Gary Marshall, Pennyâs brother. And Bobby Brown is also all over TPW soundtrack. Amazing family affair! Whitney Houston is my fucking favorite.
