I love what I’m seeing from Tyler. His movies are strange and special, his latest, Harper’s Comet has no dialogue and is so beautiful, funny, and sad. Just dive in, you’ll thank me later.

I feel like I won't be the first to recommend this. You, probably like me, have someone else's Criterion login/password and saw that Hal Hartley's films were featured. You ALSO didn't know about him despite being a self-appointed cinephile, so you watched them all, loved most of them and bought the ones you could afford in DVD format on ebay. Anyway, I recommend the films of Hal Hartley. They're kinda perfect and idk why no one ever references them. Or maybe I'm the last to know?

Henry makes a lot of low key insufferable navel-gazey films that I really enjoy. Last Summer in the Hamptons (1995) is his best. A matriarch presides over her family, who are all somehow involved in the theatre. It makes you wish you grew up with intellectuals in a house by the sea. Eating: A Very Serious Comedy about Women and Food is so annoying, it’s just women saying they’re fat at a party in Los Angeles, but my friend and his wife have the poster in their dining room, and it’s a great poster, I recommend getting it. He’s alive, Henry is, my translator friend knows him, she’s his muse, though she’s turned the camera back on him, her documentary on him needs a place to screen, if you’re a gallerist, get in touch. I got hooked on another youtube thing, where people have uploaded real-time news coverage of major events, like the JFK Assassination. You can watch as if it was happening in real time, with hours going by with not a lot of information coming in. In an age where TV Technology was still so fresh, it’s captivating to watch the anchors and reporters struggle to deliver information.

Chef John. It’s a popular cooking youtube channel. But me and my wife love it and use it when we wanna try new things, or remember how to make obvious stuff. He’s got a calm, soothing, kinda ASMR kind of voice and  I sometimes just watch his videos to relax.

I have 3 or 4 active group texts going in and out of my life:  a little mini stream of in-jokes, long-running bits, and random nonsense.  I’m so lucky to know funny people in my life and it's always a bit of fun relief to dip in, stir the pot and goof off about nothing and it keeps me connected to these people in a fun way.
