Thinking today about how I say “lovely” so frequently because of an influential art professor and mentor. I set my perfumes on the windowsill and think of my friend Marleigh every time I listen to The Cure. The way I stack my clothes in the closet, and cut avocados, try to live slowly, and sit in a hidden place by the river- the way I wash my dishes and light my room with a paper lamp, and frame my photos and so much else that’s not quite so superficial, comes from people who have wandered in and out of my life. So much has been a lesson, I wonder if anything I do is original, but I think I like it better this way.
