Hello to all reading, I am a writer who is trying to make money on the side of their job and was pointed to the direction of freelance writing by a colleague. One big problem, I have looked at many different sources and still am not sure where to start. I have no portfolio, no blog, and no college degree to help me out. I am unsure of what job listings are scams or legit. This colleague recommended going into the buildings of small / local newspaper establishments and handing a resume but I feel that's not going to be enough to get me gigs. I wish to try and start a blog but have no idea what exactly to write because I'm not even sure I entirely know what a blog is. I need to get back into my creative flow and feel doing this could bring me back there, even if it is technical writing. I miss writing , so please help me out if you can. Sharing experiences, achieved goals, how you started, where you are now, what kind of jobs you got, etc., anything and everything will help. I appreciate your time, truly.
