I also like the discourse that surged in Colombia about hippos being people, as we're currently in a war against the hippos (and they're wining). We can't kill hippos and killing them would equate to killing a person according to some people in the legal field, since the sentence would be the same as committing first degree murder against a person, but the data out there is pretty clunky.
