Yesterday, I showed my friend (also my roommate and colleague) what probably is my favourite film. It’s an old French film that was practically the blueprint for the lonely and stoic hit man trope.
It struck me how much he enjoyed it. I wondered why I hadn’t shared it with him earlier. Why are we so stingy to share what we love? Why do we delay the amazing bonding opportunities that beautiful art gives us. I don’t know, but I’ll be doing a lot more of this.

🎥what is suffering and what is it to art? how does one find the joy of creation and is that joy enough? impressive performance from fassbender despite barely seeing his face. watched it for the first time in 2018 with a brand new group of friends i thought i’d have forever. that group has since spectacularly imploded, but i watch this movie every few years to commemorate them and the new friends i’ve made since.

it really opened my eyes to cherishing memories even when they're shared with someone who is no longer in my life. this movie gives great insight introspection to how one deals with the grief of a newly ended relationship. i can't help but lose it every time i watch it.

📚my friend and I started a very informal “book club” of sorts a couple months ago wherein we just get together every weekend and dedicate an hour or two to reading our respective books together. it rocks! you don’t have to commit to reading the same thing but you do have to commit to reading something, which is always good and fun and enriching.

💻a free, curated streaming service that only has one movie at a time, up for one week. they’ve been putting up some really great short docs about Palestine lately, and they’ve got supplemental reading for everything. just discovered it a few weeks back, really enjoying it.
