Eva Victor is a Los Angeles–based actor, writer, and director. Maybe you recognize them from Showtime’s Billions, or from their many viral Twitter videos (Eva is really effing funny). They made their directorial debut with Sorry, Baby, which they also wrote and starred in alongside Lucas Hedges and Naomi Ackie. The film premiered earlier this year at Sundance to high praise and was soon acquired by A24. Vogue praised Sorry, Baby as “one of the most high-wire, hilarious films of the year.” It's currently in its theatrical run, so be sure to catch it while you can. Lucky for us, Eva’s here to tell us what they’ve been into.

Bringing watercolors with you wherever you go

Watercolors come in teeny boxes, and all you need is a brush and some thick paper. You don’t even have to watercolor, just bring the tin around, because if you happen to catch a watercoloring vibe you’ll have them, and if you don’t it’s your way out. Kinda like, I bet you didn’t know I could quit my job right now and go to a park to watercolor instead. Watercolors = I’m in charge of my life. Does this make sense.

Loving something from afar and not needing to change that.

For example, I do not feel so comfortable with birds when they’re nearby. I don’t like how the head moves, and I don’t want it to land on my head, peck my eyes out, etcetera. That said, when I look up at the sky and birds are flying together in a beautiful shape, that could make me cry. So to me, that’s interesting.

Asking someone’s name a bunch up top

so you don’t have to ask it like three months from now, ie you can just say “remind me your name one more time” a few times in the first hour of meeting someone so you can avoid feeling legitimately insane later.
